Scooteasy Privacy Policy

How Scooteasy handles rider data.

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Scooteasy is a Trekk Mobility partner providing electric scooter services for Afe Babalola University in Nigeria. This Privacy Policy explains how Scooteasy collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects information relating to riders, website visitors, support contacts, and users of the Scooteasy mobile experience.

1. Services covered by this policy

This policy applies to Scooteasy websites and pages, Scooteasy mobile app features, electric scooters and connected vehicle hardware, payments, customer support, account management, promotions, surveys, and other interactions linked to Scooteasy services.

2. Information we collect

We may collect information you provide directly, including your name, email address, phone number, account login details, profile information, payment details, billing information, communications preferences, support messages, ride history, and any other information you submit through the app, website, forms, or customer support channels.

We may also collect information about your device and use of the service, including browser type, device identifiers, app activity, log information, crash data, dates and times of access, clicked features, IP address, and approximate location derived from your device or network.

3. App permissions and location data

The Scooteasy service may request access to your camera so you can scan a scooter QR code, and location services so you can find scooters, start and end rides, receive route or zone information, and help Scooteasy manage its fleet safely. You can control permissions through your device settings, although some core ride features may not work without them.

4. Vehicle and ride data

Scooteasy scooters may include IoT or telematics devices that send location, battery, lock, speed, status, and diagnostic data. This helps Scooteasy locate scooters, support active trips, detect parking or geofence issues, handle accidents or damage reports, calculate ride charges, prevent misuse, maintain the fleet, and improve scooter availability around campus.

5. Payments

When payments are processed, Scooteasy may share the information needed to complete the transaction with payment service providers. This may include your name, email address, phone number, trip start and end details, payment method, payment identifier, invoice information, and other transaction records required to process, reconcile, refund, dispute, or report payments.

6. How we use information

Scooteasy uses information to provide and operate the service, verify users, unlock and manage rides, process payments, provide support, respond to account deletion or privacy requests, protect riders and the public, prevent fraud or misuse, monitor vehicle safety, comply with legal obligations, send service messages, improve the app and fleet, and communicate about Scooteasy where allowed.

7. Sharing and disclosure

We may share information with Trekk Mobility, service providers, payment processors, customer support tools, technology vendors, professional advisers, insurers, public authorities, campus or safety stakeholders, or law enforcement where necessary to operate the service, protect safety, comply with law, resolve disputes, investigate misuse, or enforce our terms.

8. Data security and retention

Scooteasy aims to protect rider information with appropriate technical and organizational safeguards. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to reduce unauthorized access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. We keep information for as long as needed to provide the service, comply with legal, tax, safety, payment, dispute, and fraud-prevention obligations, and then delete or de-identify it where appropriate.

9. Your rights and choices

You may request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of your personal information, subject to applicable law and necessary retention obligations. To ask for account deletion, use the Scooteasy account deletion page. You may also contact Scooteasy by email.

10. Cookies and tracking

Scooteasy websites may use cookies or similar technologies to support website functionality, understand usage, protect the service, and improve rider experience. Browser settings may let you block or delete cookies, although some features may not work as intended.

11. Links to other websites

Scooteasy pages may link to third-party websites, including university resources, app stores, payment providers, or other partners. Scooteasy is not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those third-party websites.

12. Governing law

This policy is intended to comply with applicable Nigerian data protection and privacy laws, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, and other laws or regulations that may apply to Scooteasy services in Nigeria.
